Programmers And The RecessionHaving a permanent job is priceless these days (you know, recession and stuff). But, it’s sort of limitation for your creativity. Working for you is much better. You often work on projects of your choice, set your own hours, and enjoy the flexibility to take a break whenever you want.

However to afford that, you must be very good if not the best at what are you doing. e.g. .NET programming, Website Design etc. I had luck with all of the above so now i am doing pretty good having a standard income on monthly basis plus I work on other projects as a freelancer.

Before the recession I had a several interesting ideas but i didn’t dare to start any of them as it takes a lot of time and investments.
Actually I was about to start some of them but lucky me i read some recession articles so I quit before it was too late!! Although it could certainly be very profitable for me the last market analyzes show that it is not time for such investing. All the projects are postponed, waiting better times.

It’s much safer to invest only your knowledge and your time but not your money. Unless you want to lose it.

That’s why, I would recommend that everyone takes chances and learns new skills and technologies. After that you can try to come with something that is up-to-date & relevant to current market demands. It’s worth a try indeed!
